Alex Yoder | Team Leader

Alex was born in Goshen, IN but now lives in the nearby town of New Paris. He says the most important part of his job is customer service. When asked why he wanted to work at Main Street, he said he needed something that fit his schedule and he likes coffee. So, it was the perfect job for him. He has been working here since the Fall of 2018. He says that his siblings have played a huge part in shaping him into who he is today, and his dad also had a really big impact on his life. One random detail about Alex is that he likes to bake, especially cakes. He also enjoys playing volleyball and making/drinking coffee.

Why Coffee Matters:

Coffee is the most social drink in the world. Conversation is improved by a good cup of coffee.

Alicia Kondas | Office Assistant

Alicia was born in Bremen but now resides in Bourbon, IN. Alicia began working at Main Street in the Summer of 2020. She loves the family feeling within the shop. Alicia believes that the most important part of her job is wearing the hat of the day. She loves being able to adjust and help the staff in any way that they need. She adores her family and loves being an auntie. Her grandpa has had a big impact on her life as he has taught her patience, and he always shows the love of Jesus. In her free time, she enjoys working on crafts with family and friends. A fun fact about Alicia is that she lived in Budapest, Hungary.

You can drink it or not drink it. The question is why would you turn down something so amazing!?

Aryanna Hedman | Barista

Aryanna grew up in Elkhart, but now lives in Nappanee. Ary had worked in a coffee shop before, but decided to apply at Main Street because she loved the atmosphere when she came Wednesday nights. She began working at Main Street in August of 2020. She believes that the most important part of her job is making sure that customers feel comfortable and satisfied every time they visit. Ary’s family means everything to her. She lives with her mother and three younger brothers. A fun fact about her is that she had always wanted to become a famous YouTuber. In her free time, she enjoys coloring, poetry, swimming, and spending time with friends and family.

Why Coffee Matters:

I’ve always believed that coffee brings people together. I often have coffee with my neighbor and my mom and being able to just sit and talk about life over a cup of coffee or two. It really brings a bond between you and the other person.

Ashley Escamilla | Barista

Ashley was born in sunny California and moved to Nappanee when she was four. She fulfilled her dream of working at Main Street in August 2019 and proudly says that some of her favorite conversations have taken place here. The most important part of her job is to serve with genuine love. She’s grateful to both her parents and Nappanee Missionary Church for the big influence in who she is today. When not at the coffee house, you may find her watching a movie, playing board games, bike riding, or creating artsy things. Fun fact: she aspires to be a Disney Princess someday, and she only eats Disney Princess SpaghettiOs.

Autumn Hajicek | Team Leader

Autumn has lived in Nappanee for the majority of her life. She has visited Main Street many times over the years. So naturally when the “we are hiring” sign went up, she put in her application and got the job. Autumn has been working here since 2017 and loves doing her part in helping the business thrive. She is committed to pleasing the customers and making sure that they get exactly what they want. One random detail that most people do not know about her is that she cannot whistle and has given up on trying. One of her hobbies is plants, and she enjoys taking care of many different kinds of succulents and other plants.

Coffee matters because there’s a lot that goes into making the perfect cup.

Avery Weldy | Barista

Avery loves being around happy people. She chose to work at Main Street because “coffee brings happiness”. When asked what she thinks the most important part of her job is, she said “just being the hands and feet of Jesus” while she is working. Her family is very supportive of her and what she’s doing. Her hobby is playing instruments such as the guitar, ukulele and piano. She also enjoys journaling and writing her own “fake calligraphy.”

Coffee = love and relationships, and has a very different context in every culture.

Carmen D. Yoder | Barista

Carmen was born in AZ, raised in Goshen, and currently is living in New Paris. She started working at Main Street Roasters because she loves coffee and wanted to learn how to make different kinds of coffee. She felt like Main Street was run with integrity and the customers were valued. Plus, her little brother worked there and that made it even more appealing. She feels like the most important part of her job is to glorify God.

 

Why Coffee Matters:

Coffee matters because it’s delicious and it makes me a better person. It also has a way of connecting people across cultures, backgrounds, beliefs, etc.

 

Carmen Yoder | Baker

Carmen joined our team in the Summer of 2019 as a baker. She loved to bake and often visited Main Street Roasters, so joining the team was a great fit for her. It is important to her that she does her best at work and makes excellent baked goods for our customers. Carmen is married to a wonderful guy and has 4 kids. Just recently, she proudly inherited grandmother status with the arrival of an adorable grandson. Outside of baking and being a grandmother, Carmen enjoys kayaking as a hobby.

Carson Miller | In Training

Array

Carson has lived in Nappanee his entire life. His parents own the coffee shop, so he has grown up working around here. He helps his dad with the roasting and hopes someday to own the coffee shop himself. He loves to study and learn about alligators; he collects stuff about them and reads books on them. He loves Legos, Minecraft and spending time with his dog, Max.

Why Coffee Matters:

Because it helps people wake up in the morning and plus, it tastes good.

 

Cassie Yoder | General Manager

Cassie has lived in Nappanee her whole life. Before employed at Main Street, she noticed the friendliness of workers and the unique atmosphere. She feels it is her responsibility to ensure that customers have a good experience and walk away from the coffee shop happy. Her parents have made a big impact in her life by showing her what it means to keep God at the center of her life. She loves meeting with friends to chat, and she also enjoys listening to podcasts in her free time. She recently completed her degrees in Business Administration and Marketing at Indiana Wesleyan University.

It adds joy to peoples’ mornings and brings friends together.

Charity Grimshaw | Barista

Charity was born and raised on a produce farm in Syracuse, IN. She began working at Main Street the Summer of 2020. She wanted to work here because she saw it as an opportunity to interact and meet new people. Charity strives to make customers feel valued and noticed as fellow people, and she hopes for the heart of Jesus to be seen in how she relates to others. In her free time, she enjoys creating and making beauty out of ordinary things. Her little Down Syndrome brother has made an impact in her life because he has taught her that love is proved by actions, and the fulfilling joy it brings to truly live love out.

Drinking coffee with people brews the atmosphere for good conversations and relational connections.

Cullen Fervida | Barista

Cold Brew, Classic Mochas, Green Tea Matcha

Cullen was born in Indiana, but his family moved around a lot. They have now settled in Elkhart. He chose to work at Main Street because he loves both coffee and the atmosphere of the shop. Cullen believes that help customers to the best of his ability is the most important part of his job. In his free time, he enjoys playing sports, traveling and exploring outdoors, and paddle boarding.

Coffee brings people together. Coffee shops are like a modern version of a town square where people meet and talk.

Desiree Yoder | Team Leader

Desiree was born in El Salvador and then moved to Nappanee when she was three years old. She has always wanted to work at Main Street, and now she has been working here since November of 2014. Desiree has also been impacted deeply by the customers that have come through the coffee shop, and she loves hearing the stories of their life. In her spare time, she enjoys reading or spending time with family and friends. She also sang in a competition at the Indiana State Fair.

It has a way of drawing people together and there’s not much coffee can’t fix.

Grace Martin | Team Leader

Grace has been living in the Nappanee area since she was born. She started looking for jobs when she was in high school. When she found Main Street, she said, “it was more than a job, it was a family and I wanted to be a part of it.” Grace is married to Cory and they have a son. Her parents have had a big influence on her growing up, teaching her how to serve and love people the way Jesus would. She enjoys spending time with her family, taking walks, reading and gardening. One unique thing that she has done in the past was going to Cambodia and Thailand with Destiny Rescue to help stop sex trafficking.

Coffee matters because with coffee you have community. People come together over coffee.

Grace Miller | Barista

Grace has lived in Nappanee her entire life. She has worked at Main Street at various times over the years. Some of her core values are: staying positive, working hard and interacting well with the customers. As a perk to being part of the family, her jobs vary from barista, to all kinds of back of the house jobs including cleaning, retail, and helping out in the roasting room.  One random fact about her is that she is a Disney fanatic. She also enjoys shopping as one of her hobbies.

It gives me my morning energy and that extra kick in my step to get through the day.

Hailey Miller | Barista

Hailey has been living in Nappanee all her life and has been helping out at the coffee shop for as long she can remember. She enjoys lightening the load of others by washing dishes for them. In her spare time, she loves to write short stories, hangout with friends and family, or just read a book. If you haven’t figured it out by now, her parents own the coffee shop, so she has been involved with the Main Street her whole life.

Honestly it helps me to actually wake up, get out of that zombie mode and actually function like a normal human being.

Hannah Hershberger | Barista

Hannah has lived in Wakarusa her whole life. Hannah began working at Main Street in September 2020. Ever since she began coming to the coffee shop, she knew she wanted to work here. She loves coffee and making peoples’ days brighter. She always tries to be efficient and friendly so that each customer is happy. Hannah’s family members and teachers have helped her become the person that she is today. She loves to learning new hobbies, spending time outside, and hanging out with friends and meeting new people. She also loves to travel and learn about the history of each place.

It’s a way to connect with people. An old friend, your best friend, or even a complete stranger.

Jackie Yoder | Team Leader

Jackie grew up in Wakarusa but moved to Nappanee in 2012. She had visited Main Street as a customer and always enjoyed the atmosphere and wanted to be a part of it. She began working at Main Street during the Summer of 2018 and loves her job. She believes that customer service is the most important part of her job. By looking at her, you might not know it, but she is very competitive in everything she does. She recently became an aunt to her nephew, Austin, who occasionally stops in with his mom to say hi. In her free time, she enjoys shopping at Target with her sisters or her best friend, Kenzie.

Karli Chapman | Baker

Karli is originally from Elkhart but has lived in Nappanee since 2010. She was excited to have opportunity to work here since she is going to college to study baking. She feels that the most important part of her job is to supply customers with quality baked goods. Her parents have taught her many things in life, including to trust God and to take life one day at a time. One random fact about Karli is that she doesn’t enjoy shopping. She enjoys taking care of her bunnies. One of her hobbies is watching movies with her family.

It matters because it gives me a little extra energy to get through the day. And it tastes amazing!

Kenzie Lincoln | Barista

Kenzie has lived in Nappanee her entire life. She began working at Main Street in the Winter of 2016, and she enjoys serving others. One of her goals is to make sure that the customers know that they are valued, and she enjoys serving them to the best of her ability. One of her best friends is her boyfriend, Cameron, who makes her laugh until her stomach hurts. Her other best friend is her dog Tank; he is a Great Dane/Pit mix. In her spare time, Kenzie enjoys reading her Bible, spending time with friends, and exercising. One fun fact about her is when she was younger, she thought she was a horse.

Coffee matters because it provides a space for all kinds of conversation. My favorite question to ask someone is: Do you want to get coffee with me? Because I can get to know people better over a warm cup of coffee. Also, it’s just plain yummy; I can’t go a day without it because it satisfies my extreme addiction!

Kyla Schrock | Barista

Kyla grew up in Wakarusa and has been a Main Street customer for years. She loved coming here to meet with friends which made her interested to learn how to make specialty coffee drinks. She began working at Main Street in October of 2019. Kyla said that she finds it important to care for customers and to be a positive influence on those around her. Kyla points to her sister Kenadee as her role model. Her grandpa has had an impact on her because of the grace, love, and compassion that he showed every person he met. A fun fact about Kyla is that she can’t drink orange juice unless she warms it up, and she challenges you to try it because it’s her favorite. Kyla has a passion for reading, singing, playing instruments, and traveling.

Why Coffee Matters:

Coffee is a community to me. I can’t count the times that I’ve made spontaneous trips with my friends to get coffee. Sitting at the coffee shop with a cup of coffee and talking has helped grow my relationships in such cool ways.

Lily Bowser | Barista

Lily is a lifelong resident of Nappanee who loves coffee and loves serving people. She joined our team in 2018 and places importance on being a team player that does the tasks others don’t enjoy while keeping a good attitude in the process. In her down time, Lily enjoys watching Netflix or hanging out with friends. She also loves traveling and visiting new places with others. Her church small group leader, Lindsay Fisher, is someone that Lily points to as having a large and positive influence on her life.

Coffee matters to me because it’s a great reason to sit down and have a conversation with someone. It’s easy to talk and sip on coffee and it creates an open environment and a sense of ease.

Makena Mast | Roasting

Makena is part of our roasting team; she really enjoys what she does. She flavors and bags a lot of the coffee for the customers. She also fulfills online orders. Makena says, “The atmosphere of Main Street makes working there a joy.”

Why Coffee Matters:

I do not personally drink coffee, but I think coffee matters to many people because it is something people can come around together and enjoy company over a cup. I just drink hot chocolate instead.

Nicole Gill | Barista

Nicole has lived in Nappanee for the majority of her life. She was looking for an evening, part-time job because she is a stay at home mom during the day. She applied at Main Street and began working for Main Street at the beginning of 2019. When she is working, it is important to her to make things correctly and to serve with a smile. She is married and has two girls and is expecting another child soon. In her spare time, she enjoys taking her kids place where they can have new experiences.

Why Coffee Matters:

The first date I had with my husband was over a cup of coffee…and we have been together ever since.

Sydney Nykeil | Barista

Sydney grew up in the nearby town of Bremen and has worked at Main Street since the Summer of 2019. She has always loved coffee and thought that Main Street had a very welcoming atmosphere and wanted to be a part of it. A random thing that nobody knows about Sydney is that she is very shy when she first meets people, but once she is comfortable around them, she is very talkative. She enjoys painting or anything art related.

It’s the reason I wake up in the morning and I never get tired of it!!

Teresa Neff | Baker

Teresa grew up in Goshen but moved to Nappanee when she got married. She began baking for Main Street in the Fall of 2019. Teresa loves finding new ways to adapt Main Street’s recipes into gluten and dairy-free treats for our customers. Teresa is married to her husband, Dave, and they have 5 children and 8 grandkids. They are the best part of her life. She sews baby quilts and blankets for one of her past times. When she has free time, she enjoys baking and sewing.

Twila Hughes | Baker

Creamosa, Plain Coffee, Grilled Cheese

Twila grew up in the Nappanee area but spent most of her life in Nappanee. A big part if her job is to ensure that the baking gets done to perfection and also finished in a timely manner. She has worked here for 1 year and has enjoyed it very much. She was influenced by her grandmother in a very positive way throughout her growing up years. She now has a few grandkids of her own and they bring lots of joy to her life. One of her hobbies to do in her free time is to play cards with her daughters each week and read. A fun fact about Twila is that she has some Amish relatives.

I started drinking coffee when I was very young and have always loved it!

Twila Newcomer | Barista

Twila was originally from Fort Wayne, IN but has been working at Main Street since the Fall of 2019. She wanted to get to know the community a bit better, so she decided to start working at the coffee shop. She enjoys when her husband stops in to see her at work. She also really enjoys baking and cooking.

Wesley Mast | Roasting

Tanzanian Peaberry, Pumpkin Cake, Nitro or Cold Brew

 

Array

Wesley grew up in Nappanee, IN but has lived abroad for five years. He started working at Main Street Roasters in 2016 after Marcus had asked him to help him out with the roasting. Before he started working at the coffee shop, he had lived in different countries where coffee was the main export. Living in other parts of the world has changed him as a person and as a follower of Jesus. His wife, Makena, also works at the coffee shop. One random fact about Wes that you might not know, is that he loves to yodel.
