Our Story

The Early Years
We opened Main Street Coffee House in 2003 in the old B&B restaurant downtown, with a simple vision: to create a place where community and friendships could grow. The shop quickly became a gathering spot, and within two years we expanded next door—adding seating, a bigger bakery, and more room to serve our guests.
The highlight of our growth was adding an in-house roastery, giving us better quality and control. Marcus soon fell in love with the craft and by 2008 was roasting full-time—serving both our guests and other local businesses.
We once expanded to Elkhart and South Bend, but found multiple locations pulled us in too many directions. Choosing to focus on our hometown, we closed those shops to grow our Nappanee café and roasting brand. Though we miss our customers there, we’re grateful many still visit us in Nappanee.

Growth & Expansion
In 2017, we entered the next phase of expansion when we moved our roasting facilities into a separate building just a few doors down from the coffee house.
Around the same time, we brought in a larger roaster, which gave us the breathing room we needed for storage and order processing. With the roasting moved out of the coffee house, we could finally reimagine that old space—and in 2018, we added to our retail and created a larger space for guests to gather. The expansion gave us a warm, inviting space with lounges, a library, conference rooms, and plenty of room to gather.
It was also during this season that we rebranded, and embraced the name
Main Street Roasters, bringing our coffee story together under one brand both here at home and online.

Thank You
Since 2018, we’ve seen steady growth both in our brick-and-mortar shop and online. Expanding into more space hasn’t come without its challenges—it’s pushed us to adapt to bigger volumes and taught us how to grow through all the ups and downs these past few years.
In 2022, our story grew with the opening of Neighbors Mercantile, a general store just across the street.
Our story is rooted in God’s faithfulness and strengthened by the dedication of our team—we’re thankful for each one of them. And we couldn’t close without thanking you, our customers. Your support, both in person and online, has carried us through the years, and we are truly grateful.
