Tips for Keeping Coffee Beans Fresh and Flavorful

Keeping your coffee fresh can be a challenge, but there are a few simple tips that can help! Following these steps will help keep your coffee fresh and flavorful!

There are several ways to keep coffee fresh, including:

  • Use whole bean coffee: If possible, buy whole bean coffee and grind it yourself. Whole bean coffee will last longer than pre-ground coffee.
  • Store coffee in an airtight container: Oxygen is one of the enemies of fresh coffee. Therefore, to preserve its freshness, store your coffee in an airtight container. Mason jars, stainless steel canisters, and ceramic jars with airtight lids are all great options. We recommend AirScape containers.
  • Keep coffee away from light: Light can also affect the freshness of coffee. Store your coffee in a cool, dark place like a pantry or cupboard.
  • Grind the beans just before brewing: Grinding coffee beans exposes them to air, which can cause them to lose their flavor and freshness. The best results are found when you grind your coffee beans just before you plan to brew your coffee. We love our various small grinder options, or splurge on a burr grinder options!
